Greenwood ensures a well-rounded curriculum by balancing the academic efforts of our class day with a variety of seasonal sports activities and physical education, including:
- Soccer
- Baseball
- Basketball
- Lacrosse
- Mountain biking
- Skateboarding
- In-line skating
- Fencing
- Martial arts
- Cross-country skiing
- Downhill skiing and snowboarding
It is a requirement that students participate in some form of daily physical exercise. Competitive sports are taught as a means of increasing specific skills and coordination.
It is challenging to field a team against schools many times our size. Nevertheless, through the years Greenwood teams have earned creditable standing and several league championship soccer trophies.
The Greenwood campus includes a recreation center/gymnasium, game field, skate and bike park, exercise room, and an indoor climbing wall. Organized activities include:
- Cooperative games
- Rock climbing
- Sledding
- Ice skating
- Canoeing
- Fishing and ice fishing
- Hiking
- Camping
Our program promotes physical activity, enables athletic students to advance, and facilitates a transition to team sports for students who are fearful of physical challenges.
