Weekends at Greenwood are a balanced combination of structured activities, such as trips off campus or organized outdoor recreation, and free time where boys can socialize together, play outside, or just enjoy some quiet time in their room if they wish. On Fridays our boys occasionally attend dances at nearby middle schools or hold their own dances in the Greenwood gymnasium. Saturday evenings usually include a special dinner and a movie. We either go out for dinner or order food in and attend a movie in town or watch a film on our own projection screen in the academic center. During the winter term, we make trips to Mount Snow for alpine skiing and snowboarding. We also take boys to a local Nordic ski area where students can ski, ice skate, snow tube, or snowshoe.
Greenwood teachers take turns working weekends and play an integral role in creating fun, positive, educational experiences for our boys. Our teachers bring to the community a wide range of skills and interests which they enjoy sharing with our boys. Some of these interests include: mountain biking, music, wood working, fishing, canoeing, skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, model making, robotics, rocketry, rock climbing, and camping. Greenwood’s 100-acre forested campus which includes a pond, network of trails, skate and bike park, game field and gymnasium offers many recreational opportunities for our boys to enjoy during free time and on weekends.
