Kicking off Mother’s Day weekend this year, Greenwood premiered its 21st annual theater production, Theseus & The Minotaur. The story, adapted by Greenwood Pragmatics instructor Annie Quest, follows the legendary hero Theseus of greek mythology as he journeys the Isthmus road from Troezen to Athens, battling bullies, giants, ogres along the way before finally arriving at the island of Crete to confront the tragic half man, half bull Minotaur himself.
Greenwood decided to try something new and different for this year’s annual event. Instead of putting on a traditional stage production, Theseus & The Minotaur became a multimedia presentation, featuring a live, on-stage Greek Chorus interacting with a filmed portion of the play directed by and starring Greenwood students & faculty.
The results were lauded as a huge success, and the performance was a positive experience for students and parents alike. Greenwood hopes to continue expanding its very successful arts & theater programs next year to include activities such as digital video production, improvisational comedy, and stop motion animation.
